SAM Console

SAM is an integrated total waterflow control system that manages your vehicle’s pump, tank, intakes and discharges.

With SAM, the pump operator can focus on the fireground and the crew, increasing their effectiveness and ability to stay ahead of the crew’s needs. Constant monitoring of the pump allows SAM to pre-empt and prevent water supply issues.

SAM manages and safeguards pump operations based on the pump operator’s settings. Instead of a complex fire engine pump panel, all pump controls are held in a robust and intuitive 10” touch-screen display.

SAM benefits on the fireground

  • SAFE PUMPING – Dual control panels, one on each side of the truck, allow the pump operator to stay in the safest location.
  • EARLY EFFICIENCY – Automated line charging and pressure selection saves up to 1min :30 sec during the critical first five minutes of a fire, allowing the attack crew to begin working faster.
  • CLEAR COMMUNICATION – Automated pressure control and consistent visibility between the pump operator and the attack crew reduces the need for routine radio communication about waterflow, freeing up the radio for urgent updates on fireground changes.
  • EQUALIZED SKILLS – Automated routine pumping tasks make all operators superior drafters by ensuring adequate pressure, avoiding the risks of under and over pumping, and enabling them to focus on problem solving.
  • SAFETY ON SCENE – Automated tank filling prevents water from spilling onto the ground during cold weather, reducing the risk of falls.
  • SPEED DECISION MAKING – Visible tank level and hydrant information that are displayed on the SAM nozzle help the attack crew to be aggressive, reducing concerns about running out of water.
  • LESS HYDRANT STRESS – Automated pressure control simplifies the process for switching from a low or lost hydrant back to the tank, helping operators calmly fix issues without loss of water flow.

SAM benefits for the fire department

  • RECRUITING – SAM helps recruit new fire service members and truck operators who are more digitally-connected than previous generations. When competing for talent with other heavy industries, military, and law enforcement, the fire service doesn’t leverage the appeal of working with state-of-the-art technology. Even worse, the fire service hasn’t adapted to the fact that most young people no longer have access to shop class in high school. Instead, they learn robotics and computers. SAM takes your department into the future by protecting and enabling first responders with tools that they are qualified and excited to operate.
  • TRAINING – SAM’s automation of 75% of the pumping operation helps equalize performance across pump operators of varying experience and skill levels. And the attack crew benefits from increased confidence in their pump operators, enabling them to be aggressive in the critical first few minutes on the fireground.
  • SAFETY – SAM’s department-standardized presets mean every crew benefits from consistent and appropriate pressure for each handline. With the pump operator freed up to focus on changing conditions on the fireground and the attack crew, the entire team accomplishes tasks faster.
  • FLEET HEALTH – SAM’s protection against poor pumping practices and data collection make SAM a favorite among fleet managers and technicians. A healthier fleet means a safer crew with proactive service notifications reducing surprise mechanical problems on the fire ground.
